My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and he always seems to have a hard time financially. He works construction in the union so pay is not always steady. He just got laid off because he got injured at work. I’ve paid his rent twice over the past year (I know I know) and he has never paid me back even when he said he would. I’ve given him gas money since we do live 2 hours apart so it’s a bit of a drive.
Just a few days ago I received a good sum of money from family and it’s not even fully in my account yet. My boyfriend asked me to buy $1000 set of tires for his truck and was asking for a loan. It made me feel like I’m just a cash cow even though I know he is really struggling right now.
He asked one more time before he left if I could give him money and I told him I didn’t even have the full amount in my account yet. He seemed really bummed but didn’t stress it any more. He just made a comment he didn’t know if he could make the drive back down to me because his tires are really bad.
I’m at a loss at what to do or if I’m being selfish not helping him out. I’m a people please but really trying to hold my ground since he’s never paid me back.
