I’ve read that as a man, I have to “Take the lead’, phrase things as a statement instead of asking permission eg “Let’s go here” instead of “Can we go here?” Etc.

I’ve been in a relationship for 6 months with a lovely Woman. We love each other and I’m crazy about her.
I feel like I’m trying to take the lead too much, coming off as selfish as a result, and she even mentioned that I take the lead too much. I feel like I’m sometimes not being myself.

I worry that she’ll leave me if I start asking more and let her take the lead more. I do let her by the way, but not as often as I do. It’s an irrational fear but every where I look online I hear that a Man must “be decisive, take the lead and be masculine” and it’s burned into my brain.

I’d like some advice on this, cause it’s giving me anxiety and I don’t want to jeopardize our relationship over something so small.

  1. If you wanna take the lead, do so. If not, then don’t. At the end of the day you wanna be with someone for who you are, not what you’re trying to be.
