Over summer break from college I’ve been invited to play poker with some high school buddies quite often. I usually go and have fun but I always here them talking about golf they’ve played. It seems like they play almost everyday but when I ask them play most of the time they are too busy. On the rare times they play it’s always fun so I’m really not sure why they never seem to invite me to play golf and I always have to reach out with minimal success
Last night at poker when they talked about playing golf 2v2v2 (6 people lol) I told them that if they ever need someone to invite me. If I continue to never get invited should I take that as a sign? And if so should I stop playing poker with them too? (I generally win money).

  1. Do they always play 2v2v2? Perhaps the numbers just work. Usually groups go out in 2 or 4. Also are you any good at golf? Regardless if everyone seems to enjoy poker I wouldn’t stop.

  2. Maybe they don’t want you to win at that too.

Don’t take it personal, sometimes it can be as simple as differnt atmospheres have differnt vibes. Enjoy being a poker bud, have fun while your there. If they want to golf they will ask- that means they want you there vs guilted into inviting you because you keep asking which might feel forced. Then that’s not fun for anyone and can create a tension. Have fun and poker bud find other golf friends, or golf yourself and practice your game and then if you are invited you can sweep up make some money on that too haha.
