I dress formal for work, so I’m in socks all week long. But I find my pairs of socks getting loose (therefore uncomfortable) around 4 weeks after I start using them.

Does it happen to you? Is there something I should stop or start doing in this regard, apart from… well, buying new pairs of socks every few months?

  1. Buy thicker socks made of good materials. Keep your toenails clipped, and wash both your socks and your feet (separately) on a regular basis. My socks literally last for years.

  2. Buy better quality socks. I like “darn tough socks”. It’s a brand they have a lifetime warranty. I’ve had pairs for a decade now and there still going. Granted since the pandemic they don’t get much use.

I like the hiker socks. They cost more, but you’re not buying more socks every other month.

  3. Does anyone not wear socks to work? Who is showing up to work in flip flops

  4. What are you doing wearing them for 4 weeks straight? They last years for me. Cotton socks or bamboo (although they can shrink) are indestructible

  5. I buy new ones when the holes get too big to ignore.

High quality socks won’t get loose. The material should be mostly cotton or viscose with possibly some polyester to strenghten the sock. Good ratio is 80/20.

  6. I bought about 30 pairs of the same type a few days ago. Now I wil throw away the old socks and not having problems finding a match.

  7. Spend money on good quality socks, shoes and underwear. You’ll actually spend less money in the long run.

  8. Try different brands. It sounds like your socks are not so great. Not sure of your style or anything, but I really like Smartwool and Bombas. Maybe give them a try if any of their styles suit you.

  9. Check out how Marie Kondo recommends pairing your socks. Instead of balling them in pairs which destroys the elastic, she folds them gently in thirds and stores them standing up, like little sock soldiers.
