By naked family, I don’t mean nudist necessarily, just where there was a frequent and common casual nudity.

Was it good? Bad? Neutral? Helpful? Damaging? Convenient? Annoying?

  1. It was chill, didn’t really know it was weird till I went to other peoples homes and things like that. Very body positive.

  2. I was appalled at the cost of clothes when I started earning. Maybe that was one of the main reasons for Nudity in our household I guess.

  3. Mainly it just led to me being confused about people being horrified by the thought of seeing their parents naked. I think it’s chill, because you don’t have to think too much about hiding your nakedness. Went showering and forgot clothes? Just walk to your room and get them. Don’t have to wait to brush your teeth just because someone is in the shower.
And no I didn’t do the same while living with a roommate because of course I can still distinguish between this.

  4. I grew up in a country where nudism is not a big deal and people are quite relaxed about it. I think it was extremely healthy – you are aware that everyone looks different noone is perfect. It separates nudity from sex which is also healthy.

  5. I don’t know about naked family per se, but when we were kids we used to sneak downstairs late at night sometimes and watch tv when we should be in bed. Dad used to get pissed off at this and come down and yell at us, and in this way I learned two things. First, my dad sleeps naked. And second, dad dick is a real thing.

  6. It wasn’t super common, but when I was real young I’d shower with my mom or dad or take a bath with my sister. I think it’s the reason that I am blessedly free of the Christian shame of the body.

  7. Frequent and common casual nudity teaches children about themselves and their species by passive observation. That is knowledge that children will soon need to become functional adults. All learning is good for all children. Learning is their most important work.

  8. Tell me you’re american without saying you’re american…

Considering I live in a culture where a “naked family” (I guess that would mean seeing family members naked regularly) is the norm, I don’t really have much of a point of comparison. In the grand scheme of things I think it’s really helpful to make you understand the human body, and how different people look. Also serves to demystify the human body. Not to say I had any mystery associated with nudity to begin with because like I said, it’s the cultural norm here. You yankees are still way too squeamish and puritanical about this stuff ya know.

  9. Very positive. I dont speak about it in school, but it’s just free and easy. I’ll just walk from a shower into my room. So simple
