Greetings from Russia .

I caught myself thinking that maybe I’m the only idiot in the world. I sometimes take a cat in my arms like a child and sing songs of my own composition to him. For example these(rhyme is lost in translation ):

How did your own mother see you off,

Here and all your relatives came running.

And where are you, Vintik cat, and where are you?

You wouldn’t go to cat Witnik as a soldier.

There are tea bayonets in the Red Army,

The Bolsheviks will manage without you.

Willy-nilly you go al willingly,

Screw, Vintic, you’ll be lost for nothing.

I, suffering for you, turned gray,

Avon is in the field and in the hut, how much work.

  1. I have a song I made up for my cat twelve years ago, and still sing it to him even though he’s gone deaf.

Chack the cat is an awesome cat

He fights for justice with a quick Chack-pat

He rolls around in his Chackillac,

    Chack is an awesome cat

Chack the cat is an awesome cat,

When the going gets tough, he’s got your back

He’ll defend his friends with a quick attack,

    Chack is an awesome cat.

  2. Soft kitty warm kitty

    Little ball of fur

    Happy kitty sleepy kitty

    Purr purr purr

  3. Yes I used to sing to my cats, just made up nonsense. I did have one refrain but would change up the rhyme sometimes.

“Noah, the wonder cat! He’s the wonderest cat we know!

And he’s so tiny, he has no heinie!

’cause he’s Noah …. the wonder cat!”

It wasn’t always a ‘tiny heinie’. Sometimes he was too fat for a hat, or his dress is a mess, whatever popped in my head. My kitties Noah and Mr. Smith – RIP, kitties. I miss you both!

  4. Yes, absolutely! My ex and I even changed the lyrics of a number of songs to include her name and things about her

  5. I sometimes sing Dio or Judas Priest songs for my dog. I don’t think she gets it yet.

    >Do you like the dark?

    >Do you like the way it moves?

    >Do you come alive when neon kills the sunshine?

    Or….

    >So much for the golden future, I can’t even start

    >I’ve had every promise broken, there’s anger in my heaaaaaaaaart

    >You don’t know what it’s like, you don’t have a clueeeeee

    >If you did, you’d find yourself doing the same thing, too:

    >BREAKING THE LAW, BREAKING THE LAW

    >BREAKING THE LAW, BREAKING THE LAW

  6. Oh, yes. My wife and I sing to our cat every day.

One side effect of working from home, and thus spending so much time around the cat, is that I find myself unconsciously singing even away from home sometimes. I’m officially a crazy cat person now!

  7. When my cat wants to hear a song, she paws at my mouth. Her favorite song is Edelweiss.

  8. I don’t have cats anymore but in the past yeah I used to sing goofy little songs to them quite often. Often replacing lyrics in actual songs to be about them lol

Like one I remember is “feed me feed me, say that you’ll feed me. I don’t care bout anything but fooooood” to the tune of Lovefool by The Cardigans

  9. I’m not american and I don’t have a cat, but I just wanted to say that I love everything about this question and the responses.

  10. I sing nonsense songs to both my cats and dogs. I also sing popular songs with lyrics changed to fit my cats. They love it, I’m convinced of it!
