I find it impossible to get a date

I’m in Australia and I would like to know how to date. The whole dating scene is based on cliques and it’s very rare to approach people in public. I tried dating apps too but I’m falling into the category where people are saying that dating apps are a scam unless you are good looking. I get almost no matches and the people that try to match me are Asian because I’m Asian. I almost never match them because most of the time they don’t speak English (the foreigner type) and I can’t be dating someone who I can’t even communicate with.

I also just saw a post where people were saying research shows technology, gaming, covid and other means of indoor entertainment have made people stay indoors more. I fall into that category because I’m introverted to people I haven’t gotten to know and I like gaming.

I do play games with this girl I met on discord almost every night and she says I’m a sweet person but unfortunately I’m not attracted to her (not just physically). I just like her as a friend even though we do get along very well to the point where I push her buttons and she knows I do that on purpose as a joke, she gets annoyed and then we laugh about it.
