What habit or beauty product did you realise, only later on, was damaging to your skin?

  1. tying my hair back into a tight ponytail. i hate the feeling of wet hair so i would always tie a tight high ponytail when i first got out of the shower and it took me a while to realize it causes breakage 🙁

  2. Very surprisingly it was burt’s bees peppermint lip balm! I used it for quite a while but in 2020 started developing a rash and discoloration around my mouth that was painful and unsightly. When I went through the elimination process it was stopping using the lip balm that helped heal the skin around my mouth. Even a couple uses when I tried reintroducing it, and the rash started coming back.

I was getting them from Amazon and have wondered if they were fake or expired or something

  3. I used to exfoliate like crazy and use products with loads of alcohol in it because I thought that was the best way to treat acne.
Turns out it aint and also turned out I had rosacea not acne so that was a rough time for my poor face.

  4. Adding mine here, I was shocked at the amount of bad alcohol in the products I was using. Primarily sunscreen and foundation. Turns out the texture was heavenly because it had a lot of alcohol.

  5. I stopped using foundation in high school. I just didn’t like the way it felt and although there’s prob some good stuff out there, this shit clogged my pores and finding the right shade and all that is such a hassle ugh. Been like 12 years since I was in high school 😄
