How is the robotics industry in UK?

1. Dunno ….. but…..

   When I was leaving school I applied for degrees in robotics, with a plan to build robots as a career.

   At my interviews, I was implored by the professor of robotics not to do the robotics bachelors degree – and to do masters in electrical and electronics.

   Reason being that the robotics course was essentially the same as electronics, but with less choices of modules – as every optional course was geared towards robots.

   Not sure if the same is still true (as its been 20 years since I graduated) but check it out.

   Switching to a general electronics course was the best choice I could have made – I still could have focused on robotics, but actually I found I was better at other aspects of engineering and enjoyed them more.

   My advice – keep first degree general – specialise as late as possible.
