What are some foreign cars you wish were available in the USA?

  1. I live in Europe and there are a lot of European brands with smaller affordable cars that I wish we had here. Opel, Skoda, Dacia, Fiat, Peugeot, Renault to name a few.

  2. Dacia Sandero.

    I’ll take mine with a 5-Speed and whatever engine James May recommends.

  3. Those small cars from Japan that can barely fit on a standard American crosswalk. They are boxy and don’t have a passenger seat, though I recall seeing some with a back seat / trunk.

    Would be nice to see a dense city with them or maybe the suburbs as a cheaper alternative to the bigger cars we (and the world) has.

  4. I wish they made Volvos in North America.

    I loved my Volvo but the one major drawback was price of maintenance and parts.

    My answer has become somewhat out of date because they now have a plant in South Carolina. But they only make the S60 there.

    But my real answer is, if you can make a European car make and model work in the US then come and do it. Having many options in an open market is a good thing and manufacturing jobs are good jobs.

  5. I would bet the Toyota Century would get some interest.

    And the land cruiser would be good to have back.

    Other than that, I’m cool without the quirky French cars.

  6. 1970’s Australian Ford Falcons

    We had a North American model from 1960-1970. The Australians got the best models after ours was discontinued partially due to the success of the Mustang

  7. * Toyota series 70.

    * Suzuki Jimny.

    * Single cab Ford Rangers.

    * Some of the smaller motorcycles from Japan.

    * Australian market Ag bikes.

    TL:DR: More smaller basic utilitarian vehicles.

    Oh, and more manual transmission options.

  8. I live in Japan and have a small kei car. I think if I lived in a city in America it would definitely be a good car as the speeds would never get that high and the thing is pretty good on gas.

  9. Toyota HiLux pickup. Back in the day, it was sold in the US as SR5, but replaced by the larger Tacoma.

  10. The land cruiser Prado would be cool, we technically get it in the US as a Lexus badged vehicle but it would be nice to have the Toyota version as well.

    I would like to see Isuzu back in the US light duty market as well.

  11. The Toyota [Passo](https://toyota.jp/passo/?padid=tjptop_car-search_bdt-2BX_passo) would suffice for about 80% of my needs for a vehicle. I’m far from any metropoitan area and trips to the post office, grocery store, dump and friends houses are almost never over 50mph and when they are it’s only for a short stretch of 2 lane road.

    The $10,000ish new price and 50+mpg would make it basically a financial windfall compared to what’s available to me.

  12. Any french car. They are shit. But I like France.
    I’ve seen in my whole life, only one french car on the road. It was old and obviously imported

  13. I can’t really say Ive yearned to have a foreign car not available to me. Then again, I mainly buy my cars for transportation- I’m not a “car guy”. (I haven’t owned one in about eight years now.)

  14. The new Peugeot cars look quite stunning, wouldn’t mind it if they came back to the states after a 30 year hiatus.

    Also just wish we had more options for wagons and hatchbacks, I’d kill to get a lower specced BMW 3 series estate car w a diesel engine and a 6 speed manual.

  15. Peugeot 508 SW PSE, or wagons in general. Once my twins are out of the giant stroller and into front facing seats I want to get rid of the giant SUV. But wagons got such a bad reputation they aren’t very popular.

  16. Fuck I’d a Toyota Hilux.

    The Terrorist’s ‘Technical’ truck of choice.

    Probably be the least vehicle I ever buy if I could get one.
