I would like to practice saying hi to strangers on the street and I find it uncomfortable. Should I say it to everyone including the people avoiding eye contact or just the people who make eye contact?

  1. This is a great idea. The only unapproachables would be people with headphones in, talking on the phone, a couple of people who are already in conversation with each other, or people walking at a hurried pace like they are running late. Otherwise, generally speaking, most people respond positively to a “Good morning” or other greeting

  2. No, definitely don’t greet strangers who look busy/wear headphones/appear consumed with their thoughts. They would assume that you need help with something if you pull them out of their mind task.
