Someone has offered to give us one for our wedding or we can choose something for our new kitchen. I’m trying to decide if we would use it often enough to be worth it, so how much do you use it and is it worth it? Or should I ask for a new fan oven? Thanks!

  1. Surely a better question for you would be how much do you eat pizza and for other people what else do you use a pizza oven for so you can see if it fits in with your habits?

  2. What kind of pizza oven? Are we talking about those ridiculously priced £1k ones? Wood fired? Don’t bother. I’d ask for a nice fan oven if you don’t have one. You can always get a “cheap” ferrari pizza oven (check amazon) later which does great pizza and really is good enough.

We have one of those and use it 6-8 times a year – but we are tired work slaves with kids so by the time evening rolls around we just don’t have the energy

  3. I try to stay away from one-trick ponies in the kitchen. Obviously YMMV, but I know I’d prefer to have something that can do multiple things.

  4. Use mine once a month or so – mainly when catering for friends. It’s always a crowd pleaser

  5. Just bought an ooni koda 12 about a month back and have already used it 3 times, I’m sure that’s mostly because of the novelty of it. I’m estimating we will probably use it once a month or so, maybe more in the summer and less in the winter.

If you can afford it and like your pizza it’s a great investment, the kids love it as well and love to make up their own flavour combos.

  6. I have an outdoor pizza oven and to be honest we don’t use it very often. Three or four times a year, but it’s fun when we do use it. I kind of think of it like our BBQ which we probably use just as often.

  7. Bought a Roccbox recently and have used it loads. Just be aware that it’s not just about the oven, you generally need to make your own dough as well, which isn’t hard but can be a bit pricey for decent ingredients. 1kg bag of 00 flour and 14g yeast will give you 8 pizza bases (with a couple of other basic ingredients.
Easy to use once you have the hang of it, takes about 10-15 mins to get up to temperature and the pizzas are excellent.

  8. I’ve had an ooni koda 12 gas oven for a month, we’ve used it about 4 times and had a pizza party for 8 last week.

Everybody loved the pizza and they were surprised that I made such a good quality pizza in the garden.

If you’re into cooking from scratch and entertaining then it’s great. Hopefully it will last me a very long because it has cost me a lot of dough (quite literally).

  9. My manager is Italian and I don’t think she even has a pizza oven. Maybe ask for a kitchen aid mixer or food processor instead.

  10. I have an wood fired Ooni. Use it every 3 weeks or so in the summer. It’s very little hassle to get going. The pizzas are ace. It’s an expensive, fun little novelty.

  11. I have a friend with an outdoor one, they use it very regularly and are well set up with it. Getting the dough ready, toppings sorted, getting it up to heat. You can zap pizzas in there in about 90 seconds and they are bloody brilliant.

  12. I don’t have a pizza oven.

But if I purchased one it would not get used because there is a fantastic actual Italian pizza place in my village that does large pizzas for about £14, and there is no way i could make them as good.
