I’m friends with this incredibly social girl, where ever we go we are stopped a couple of times by people saying hi to her and catching up for a bit, my reaction at that point is “stand back and don’t say a word” since I don’t want to come off as intrusive.
But it feels like I’m missing out on a lot of good people, I just want to know what is the appropriate way to act around “friends of a friend” in a way that is most comforting and not too aggressive I guess.

I have a few friends like this as well! I’m quite awkward in situations like these as well but I always greet them too with at least a wave. I try my best to join in in small ways whenever I can like just introducing myself or something, I think friends like these are such a good opportunity to meet new people!
