Just be hot. That’s how it works.
The apps themselves aren’t actually bad, even if they are geared towards profit, not people, you still get exposed to a lot of people, and that is where the main problem is. You can’t really prevent people from toxic behaviors, you also can’t exactly fix the ratio problem, unless you closely monitor the gender of the users and organize some sort of a waiting list system to keep it 50/50, but that of course only covers heterosexual people, so you have to keep track of sexuality as well, which can get really tricky as you can’t predict how bi and pan people will affect your ratio.
