What was the first thing you remember buying online?

  1. I actually think it was a calligraphy pen.

I was a fourteen year old with high ambitions of elegance and beauty, but who really just admired the pen for years and never learned calligraphy.

  2. My first digital camera in… 2009? I was 20 then, so I’m not sure it was my first online purchase ever, but it’s the first that I remember.

  3. Pretty sure it was a bunch of books from Amazon (back when it was a bookstore).

  4. Back when I was a teenager in 1998 and 56k dial-up internet was blazing fast, I used to buy bootleg anime on VHS from online “stores”… but online credit card processing wasn’t a thing yet and I didn’t have a credit card anyway. I’d email a list of the shows I wanted, fill a box with blank tapes, hide some cash or a Western Union money order in the bottom of the box to cover the copying fee, and ship it off to some random dude who had a VHS copying machine in his basement. A few weeks later, they’d mail the tapes back.

  5. An Akatsuki cloak and headband, I still use both of them and I got them when I was about 10
