What are your opinions on current interior design trends?

  1. Grey can go die in a fire. I’m so tired of neutrals and “Builder’s Beige”. I’m a big fan of looking at real estate and everything is just so freaking boring. Grey everything, knocking out great old walls just to make everything open concept (again, so over it), karate chop pillows, pics that focus on one piece instead of the whole room (like, why? want to see the room not a fucking vase that doesn’t come with the goddamned house). I’m clearly not On Trend.

  2. I’m never really even sure what they are. I’m annoyed sometimes because I’m trying to furnish a home and it can be difficult to find things to match my aesthetic, but I don’t really know what the trends are right now. We did have our interiors repainted to be much more neutral because the place was far too dark when we bought it. I know a lot of people don’t care for pale neutral wall colors, but I find it much lighter and more satisfying than the darker colors.

  3. The farmhouse chic style is sometimes cute, but I feel like it’s everywhere now and I’m tired of seeing it.

  4. I am not a fan of the gray aesthetic, especially the gray stained hardwood flooring. I find it too bland and austere of a style.

Open concept done right can be warm and inviting. Done poorly it creates structural problems to a house or can create a lack of privacy. I’ve seen a lot of poorly done open concept.

  5. Gray is one of my least favourite colours and farmhouse/cottage does nothing for me. I just ignore trends and do what I want, and I want strong, deep colour and modern industrial – gorgeous woods with chunky metal fittings.

  6. White and minimalist designs can disappear. I don’t feel at home in an environment that looks as sterile as a hospital room.

  7. Meh. Why paint and furnish your place to look like you’re getting ready to sell it – unless you are? Personally, I’m a fan of strong colors, they make me happy. Grey, white, and beige? Not so much. I’m also not a big fan of open concept living, I like a kitchen with a door I can close so the whole house doesn’t smell of whatever I’m cooking.

  8. Ew to the grey, sterile look. Especially for a baby nursery! Those are supposed to be fun and colorful. And a living room should look warm and cozy

  9. Not really a fan. I am not a minimalist in any aesthetic aspect so I don’t really vibe with current interior trends. I find neutral palettes super boring, give me all of the color, prints, wallpaper, give me walls lined with antique portraits.

  10. I hate minimalism. Whites and grays are so ugly. I’m a maximalist and I love color! Your living space is a reflection of you as a person. Whenever I walk into a persons house and it’s all monochrome I die a little inside. I could never live like that.

  11. I don’t do trends with anything, but I like some new products. I’m totally in love with temporary wallpaper and the fact I can turn my own designs into wallpaper. I also love newer furniture concepts and closet design for compact storage.

As a renter who leans toward smaller spaces, it’s nice to see new ideas about renovating spaces without permanence. Even those 3M wall hooks and picture hanging strips are a game changer for me.

  12. It’s weird bc idfk where it goes from here… like Fixer Upper really sold the world on the styles we have now. I used to really like it, but now you just see it eeeverywhere… so it’s wearing off on me.

  13. I’ve always liked the villa/resort look, it’s timeless and gives you vacation vibes

  14. It’s pretty much my fav. This has been a great time to decorate a house because all my preferences are currently trendy. I love gray, I love minimalist and farmhouse together, I love black and white contrast. I prefer color to come from nice wood furniture and easy-to-swap decorations with a calm, neutral house. And as someone who grew up in a “historic” (nightmare) house and currently lives on an actual farm, I really appreciate how much easier it is to keep a “modern farmhouse” clean compared to a traditional one. Practicality over fashion.

  15. I like grey/white and the farmhouse style. But I’m not changing my whole house every time there’s a new trend. I buy what I like and switch things out.

  16. in general, unappealing. industrial, grey everything, insane people painting brick white… it’s all just so bad.
