What kinds of organizational names and job titles are used by fire departments and law enforcement in your country? In the US we see groups like battalion and platoon, with titles like captain, sergeant, lieutenant, battalion chief. Language is important and helps to shape ideas, and I wonder about the consequences of borrowing military nomenclature for civilian emergency services. So, how are positions and groups in emergency services named in your country?

They mostly have their own ranks , with a brigadier here or there

There is also the marechaussee which is a sort of military police that falls under the ministry of Defence and does have captains and lieutenants, corporals are just called marechaussee first and second class though.( if you ever come here, you’re basically only going to see them at the airport))

Our police are constables, sergents (so that’s military I guess), detective constables, detective inspectors and chief inspectors. Makes sense considering their jobs are to detect and inspect crimes.
Had to look this up but firefighters are just firefighter, crew manager, watch manager, station manager.
Ambulance people are paramedics, specialist paramedic, advanced paramedic.
