So my girlfriend and I are rapidly approaching our 1 year, and I want to get her a promise ring. I don’t know if it’s because of her job or not but she doesn’t wear rings. I want to get her a ring even if she wears it on a necklace but I don’t know what size ring she wears and I want to surprise her with it. How should I go about getting a size?

  1. You might be able to get a placeholder ring for the proposal (as it were), then exchange it for the correct size later

  2. Instead of a ring you can get earrings or a necklace or a bracelet if she would wear one of those more. If you are set on a ring, get a size 6 but make sure that the jeweler is able to resize it if it needs to go up or down a size. Or you can get a cheap 10$ ring in a size and use that to know what size she needs.

  3. Would not get a promise ring at this point in the relationship and especially if they don’t like rings or you suspect that.

Find out something she WOULD wear and go with that. Necklaces are harder to get the wrong size of than rings.
