  1. Where is the social? Is it for graduates or is a company social? If it’s at a pub, I’d think it strange if a new graduate turned up in a suit or work dress as they wouldn’t be wearing that normally during the day. At the same time, avoid wearing your Run the Jewels t-shirt with “Kill your masters” logo. In a situation like this, you just don’t want to have your outfit be the thing that’s noticed – it’s about you as a person. As a man, I’d go smart-casual with a shirt and chinos or similar. Hope you have fun (but not too much – drink slowly!)

  2. I’d just wear a formal shirt and formal pants. It’s really easy to pull it off as casual and as formal. Oh I just got back from a presentation. I just got back from the library. Nobody’s gonna bat an eye. Keep a tie in your pocket for good measure. But you really can’t go wrong with formal light coloured shirt and formal pants

  3. Smart casual so chinos, brown shoes, shirt with top button undone but tucked in, belt.

  4. Smart casual.

Don’t go in trainers, shorts & t-shirt, but don’t go in a 3-piece suit either. Somewhere in the middle.

Reasonably smart shoes, smart jeans or chinos, tucked in shirt, polo shirt and/or nice jumper. Just google Smart Casual and you’ll get an idea of where you should be.

  5. Smart casual.

If you’re a guy, wear trousers or smart black jeans, with a coloured or patterned short-sleeve shirt but no tie.

If you’re a girl, you could wear a dress if you’ll usually be wearing that to work, or smart ish trousers and a nice top. Nothing too sexy. No jeans.

No trainers whatever your sex is.

  6. I did similar, and I wore smart jeans with a top I would wear to work (woman). If you are a man, I would wear jeans with a polo or a shirt you would wear to a reasonably nice meal.

  7. Whatever you do don’t drink a lot. If they are beer drinkers. Get one real pint, then becks blue (non acoholicl. You are joining in without losing control. They are watching you.

If things get mad, don’t compete with them, flatter them. You’re the man, you’ve got some balls, one day I’m going to be as mad and bad as you, I bow down t sir, I love you guys.

All that crap that gives them an ego boost. Listen them, be wowed, congratulate.

It’s basically another interview, so read the room, and act accordingly, but never cimpete
