my class is taught by two lecturers but one of them didn’t show up to class today due to being in close contact with someone who has covid. my lecturer announced it pretty lightheartedly like, “okay guys i’ll be taking over the class today hahah”. and i softly went “woo” to carry on the energy. but now i’m wondering if that was weird or insensitive especially because the class was pretty quiet (although it usually is as my class is shy, including me tho:’)) i feel so awkward and bad because obviously it’s a serious situation but i was just trying to follow my lecturers energy, unless i misunderstood something;-; sorry for the rant but i needed to let it out somewhere;-;

  1. Lol I’ve done that before. Wouldn’t spend any time worrying about it. Nobody remembers right now and even if it was a little awkward, I guarantee a couple other people almost did that too but the energy in the room was too low. You’re good, hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Naa. That is the sort of thing that I would say, just louder. Everyone would laugh, no one would think of it again.

    Had the person died, or lost a close family member, yeah, rude and insensitive. Were exposed to a sick person, probably won’t even get it themselves, just a bit of light hearted banter.
