I feel so cringe.
I love it when people are nice to me.
But I can tell when they’re faking it.
It makes me so uncomfortable.
I went to a restaurant the other day.
I reached the counter and this guy just shouted “HELLO! WELCOME! How are you?”
I was shocked at first because I wasn’t expecting that. But I went on.
-I’m good, h about you?
He answers, still very “excited”.
-I’M PRETTY GOOD, WHAT CAN WE GET FOR YOU TODAY?
I quickly had a look at the staff who was close to him, and she had a mild smile on her face.
I’m pretty sure she found that funny too.
I guess the smile on her face was because she could notice I found it a bit too much.
I spoke to a friend who used to go to the same restaurant and he agreed that this guy fakes it and it makes him uncomfortable as well.
I mean, the problem is not the guy, I guess it is more like a social reflex that some people incorporate sometimes.
I’ve come across some people acting the same way.
But it always makes me uncomfortable.
Can you also notice it?
Ps: I’m a cashier at a local cafe.
I’m very sympathetic to the customers.
I don’t overdo it though.
But I’s say it is more like a natural trait for some people, and when people fake it it just doesn’t work.
