(not really sure if this is the right place to post this) I’m going to college soon and one tip I’ve heard A LOT is to start networking and connecting with people who can lead me to useful professional opportunities in the future. I’m really confused. How do I start networking with other human being? Am I supposed to befriend and stay close to people with money and influence even if it’s a shallow relationship? How can stay relevant to those people in the future for when I need professional opportunities? I’m sorry my head’s all over the place with the concept of networking. Thank you for your help.

my suggestion is to let it flow from the conversation(s). non-masochistic people prefer not to feel like they’re being pumped for information or used solely as a stepping stone.
Take interest in their career.
