How do you deal with discussing issues with your partner that you know are unreasonable for you to be angry about?

  1. “I’m so mad about something between the two of us, but I know I’m really just mad at my parents because of my trauma – as you well know. I’m gonna be mad in here for half an hour and then going to ask you for a hug. K? K.”

  2. “I don’t want to build resentment with you so I need to talk to you about this even though I know it’s silly to be upset”

Ironically I’m actually having one of these talks tomorrow. And it’s not that I’m angry or upset but something is bothering me and I would feel better if we discussed it

  3. you can start with “I know it’s illogical/unreasonable/silly for me to be upset about this situation, but emotions being emotions, this is how I feel:”
