How do people have casual and fun conversations with their parents?

I love my parents but I dont really bond with them, the only times I do is when we watch something together but even in those situations we dont talk. When eating together, I mostly either talk to my brother or (which is most of the time) stay silent and let mom and dad have their own conversation.

When we do have to say something to each other, it’s about chores and serious stuff like school.
