Our toastie maker is a bit shit so I’m looking for a replacement. I feel like a very natural product would be a toastie maker with removable plates that can double as a panini press. Why can’t I find this anywhere?
Edit: turns out they are widely available and I’m bad at Google. Thanks for your help everyone!

Don’t really want to insult your intelligence or anything but did you try a cursory glance at the [Argos website](https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7065684?clickPR=plp:5:15)?
They are! You get ones where you swap the plates. You can even get waffle iron ones. Look up 2/3 in 1 toastie maker.

I knew I’d seen these before, though given that they aren’t very prevalent it makes me wonder if there’s some sort of issue with the design, like if having removeable plates is bad for heat transfer or something. Mainly I just wish I could take out the plates from my George Foreman so I could put them in the dishwasher.
Look for Russel Hobbs. He makes them by hand.
My parents have had one for decades that has sandwich, flat and waffle plates so they definitely exist. Maybe separate are pushed more to make you buy multiple times?
We have one but the waffle bit isn’t very good.
If I knock up a prototype shall we get on dragons den?
I have one… There are three different shapes plates. One just had the horizontal long ridges for panini’s or whatever you want, I use this for sliced bread toasted sandwiches too One is shaped specifically for sliced bread but it’s the type that makes the edges very thin and hard. Plus there’s a plate for making waffles. The brand is shef.
I use a George foreman grill. The added bonus is it can also be used to cook meat
