My fellow Americans, what is your favorite U.S airport and why?

  1. Charlotte. It’s a fucking hassle if you don’t have a lot of time to board your connecting flight. But I do enjoy walking around a big airport if I’m not in a hurry

  2. DTW and MSP. I only fly delta and both are massive delta hubs and so modern and clean

  3. Rocky Gutierrez in Sitka, AK. The restaurant there has the best Reuben sandwiches I’ve ever eaten.

Also, the runway is a peninsula, so it looks like you’re landing in the water until the very last possible moment.

  4. Atlanta is pretty cool. It’s like a gigantic mall and they have indoor designated smoking areas.

  5. OGG – ‘cause Maui
PSP – Palm Springs, when it’s not blistering hot, I like outdoor airports
DEN – I like Roots Down in Terminal C
AUS – I like coming home and recognizing the airport via the smell. It’s a big crowded nowadays

  6. Colorado springs airport.

It’s so simple. It’s small and rarely ever is there a line for security. There aren’t many gates so it’s only takes 2 minutes max to walk to all gates.

I don’t like the fact the tickets are more expensive due to the type of airport it is, but other than that I like it, it’s simple.

I also like the denver airport and philadelphia airport

  7. John Wayne. It’s local to me so I’m biased, but it’s gorgeous with the palm trees lining it, very clean and new feeling, always has an ocean view on take off and landing, and best of all, can generally get you from the front door to the gate in 15 minutes.

  8. SeaTac in Seattle. Granted the only other US airports I’ve been to have been Philly international, JFK, and Newark so my options are very limited. I guess I like the design and it looks nicer than the other US airports I’ve been to

  9. Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, because that is my home airport. For #2 Newark because that meant I was visiting my family who live up there.

  10. After having not flown all pandemic, I had forgotten how nice SFO is.

All the renovations are done by Gensler and it’s like a modernist architect’s dream. International and Alaska terminal are a sea of glass and white tile. It has an incredible airiness to it.

There’s even sections with mini-museums, play areas, and artwork on the walls and ceilings.

It’s one of the few places where I feel *less* stressed at the airport than I do in the city.

  11. It’s Orlando international airport in Florida for me. It has an outdoor monorail and a giant indoor fountain. For the most part it’s just beautiful, windows everywhere, so many stores and restaurants.

  12. I don’t have a favorite but each airport has their own plus ( well most do).

MIA: Watching people walk out of the airport and getting hit by a wave of heat and humidity. The reactions are entertaining.

Sea Tac : has a nice tram system outside the airport. Plus view of Mt. Rainer when flying in.

Atlanta: For being such a large airport they do well with signs. You can’t get lost if you follow them.

There are more interesting airports abroad tho

  13. Burbank, because that means I can get a cubano and a guava smoothie at Porto’s after I land back home.

  14. I’m partial to Phoenix as a connecting hub tbh. DFW gives me the heebie jeebies, LA is too large. I like SD for no other reason than it’s my home airport, other people hate it because it’s small and old.

  15. Sacramento International is new, modern, clean, and very easy to navigate. Always makes things so quick and so efficient. Never worried when departing from / landing there.

  16. DTW. It’s my home airport so it’s the one I’m most familiar with, but it’s a solid airport too. It’s well laid out, with each terminal basically being a long straight line. There are plenty of slidewalks and a tram if you’re going far out to one end or the other. Security is usually reasonable to get through, especially if you have TSA precheck. Decent places to eat if you need to grab a bite before a flight. My only complaint is that if you need to get bags you have to go up a level and back down to get to ground transportation.

  17. SFO. It’s so clean, spacious, and quiet compared to other US airports. It has a lot of comfortable chairs and workspaces to sit in while you wait. It has healthy food options. The bathroom stalls have those full privacy doors.

I was a consultant for about 3 years, and I think I’ve seen just about every airport in the US. SFO is the only airport that has never stressed me out in any way. (Knock on wood)

  18. In terms of ease?

Grand Rapids. Even the Tuesday before Thanksgiving I was through security in less than 20 minutes.

    In terms of coolness?

Denver. I don’t even mind having layovers there.

Runner up for coolness is Minneapolis, I’d only because they have a Chick-fil-A and that’s exactly what I needed that morning lol

  19. I like Charlotte Douglas International Airport, because I remember it being clean as far as airports go and it’s a bit smaller than the other places I have connected through. It’s still big enough to have a relatively pleasant layover though. It’s also possible that I just prefer it to Atlanta, as that is usually the alternative for a connecting flight where I typically would fly.
