We live in a 15-year old house, which is well insulated. We are looking at options for cooling and MVHR sounds plausible. Anyone have any experience?

  1. Not a fairly new house, but I had it fitted to a 700 year old house.

OK, slight inaccuracy: I had air con fitted and the system can act as MVHR: expel hot moist air from wet rooms, pull in outside air and gently heat it with a heat exchanger.

It definitely improves air quality. There’s no stuffy feeling in the house anymore, which is wonderful, and the wet rooms are a lot less damp after use. The heat exchanger works OK, as the air is warm and doesn’t result in cold draughts. But it does get ‘topped up’ by the air con unit if it doesn’t recover enough heat.

In short: definitely improves air quality, but is bloody expensive.
