When the repair cost exceeds the value of the vehicle. Then buy a new Toyota.
Also consider safety. Would something like new gen monitoring systems like lane keeping, blind spot etc be of use to you? Would dynamic cruise control make long drives more palatable? If so that’s another factor.
Basically when it’s beyond economical repair.
When the annual cost of maintaining the vehicle gets to about 70% of the payment on a new vehicle, I will get the new vehicle
I’ll drive my civic until I die. I’m not into materialism and can afford a 70k dollar car today if I was so inclined. My civic 4 door has 125k miles and zero problems. Gets me to and from home daily. Zero car payments.

Been driving the same work truck 26 years , 657,880 miles….it’s cost me $25 a month to drive (excluding gas , don’t be silly) and has made me almost 2 million dollars…….🙂 you don’t get rid of your buddy just because he needs a new kidney or a knee replacement now do ya……?🤔🤔🤔
