In a lot of jobs, a 99% success rate is considered excellent. What employer would consider a 99% success rate to be a poor performance?

  1. NASA/SpaceX

There were 135 Space Shuttle missions.

    98.5% of them were successful.

    1.5% of them weren’t.

    ……that 1.5% is a biggie.

  2. Airlines, shipping, trains, transportation in general. Can’t afford to lose 1%

  3. I think it’s more about the consequences of the failure rate. For safety issues, a 1% fail rate could mean that one out of every 100 clients doesn’t survive. That wouldn’t really be a success for something to meet safety standards. For a cashier balancing their money drawer, a 1% fail rate for end of day balance might be an annoyance, but no one would die over it.

  4. Water management. Imagine if the water coming out of your tap was dangerous to drink 1% of the time.

Internet/cell availability. People would be up in arms if their internet/cell service dropped out 1% of the time.

Food safety. 99 pizzas are good and the 100th puts me on the toilet for a day.
