I’m a 23 year old man, teetering between school and professional work. I want your top pick for your signature cologne, bonus points if it’s not Dior Sauvage or Bleu de Chanel

Edit: I personally use Sauvage EDP or Prada L’homme.

  1. Acqua di Gio. Perfect for any occasion.

I am not a representative of Giorgio Armani or any of its affiliates.

  2. Bond No. 9 – For a night out
Green Irish Tweed – Fall and Winter
Silver Mountain Water – Spring and Summer

  3. You questions seems to imply that I should have different colognes for different situations… Like one for sports, one for work, other for dates and perhaps another one for formal gatherings and such, i have 4 different ones I got from Xmas presents don’t know the names of any of them one si polo in a black flask can’t remember the other ones

  4. Get the Monte Blanc Explorer, it’s very neutral and it smells amazing. I wear it to work and when I’m with my partner. I get endless compliments on it

    Edit: I cant spell

  5. So..

  6. If my ex taught me anything, it’s to appreciate taking the time to go out and trybefore buying. Some have incredible starts but weird finishes ; some I like the smell but can’t handle on myself ; others still just turn out bad on me for a reason or another. Everyone’s skin chemistry differs, and thus the same cologne won’t turn out the same on everyone. So go into a shop, speak to a seller and see where it goes. And try it for a day before shelling money (or better yet, bring home a sample).

The other thing my ex taught me, is that there’s a whole world of much more interesting scents outside of the big box, produced-for-mass-appeal stuff you’ll typically find at the mall. Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling I like, and I love Zoologist’s Sloth, but it’s not a discrete one. Etro’s Vetiver I wore for a while, too.

But yeah. Try stuff is the only true answer.

  7. L’Homme parfum by YSL is my go-to recently. Super clean/marine smell and settles really well after a few hours. Drives the wife crazy!

  8. Not a cologne guy, but I do love Gaultier. Don’t think anyone’s wore it in like 15 years, though lol.

  9. Versace Man Eau Fraiche. Got it in a Scentbird subscription and it’s been my favorite ever since!

  10. This is super cheating, but Dior Fahrenheit. It is like Sausage’s more mature cousin. Has the same depth and high quality falloff though. If you want to wear Dior Sausage but without the stigma of its stupid popularity then Fahrenheit.

PS – head on over to /r/fragrance there’s a “recommend me” daily thread.

  11. Wow, it’s my moment to shine.

My wife subscribes to a cosmetics box. She occasionally receives men’s cologne samples. Once she accumulated 32 of them, we had enough to build a bracket, so I did a double elimination tournament of blind sniff tests.

The champion was Atelier Orange Sanguine (Blood Orange).

Runner-up, and best “general” cologne, was Dior Sauvage.

Strong third and her favorite going in was Jo Malone Sea Salt and Wood Sage.

  12. Nautica Voyage N-83 at the moment. It smells good, feels fresh and last kinda long. It is cheap and as a good bottle size too.

  13. My favorites

    Green Irish Tweed by Creed

    Royal OUD by Creed

    Aventus by Creed

    Himalaya by Creed

  14. Eros by Versace – I’ve got LOTS of compliments and it’s not just another one that everyone wore.

  15. >Dior Sauvage or Bleu de Chanel

Well yeah then you’d smell like someone’s ex-boyfriend or whatever. (Not hating, they’re just very popular fragrances).

Try: Prada L’Homme EDT for the office, Acqua Di Gio Profumo, Chanel Allure Homme Sport (EDP or Eau Extreme EDP). Good luck.

  16. I did a few days of research and the absolute best cologne I found is called wanted. I’ve warn a few different cologne over the years but wanted is the only one I get consistent “you smell good” from basically everyone. Girls, family members, friends. Just such an excellent, long lasting scent.
