At work or with my friends, I was always been told I’m great at socialising. My boss even rated my interpersonal skills. However, I live far away from my sisters and cousins (who live closer to each other) so I don’t get to spend much time with them. Its only fair that I get very excited to meet them and catch up with them. However, they barely tell me anything about their own lives, and just stuck with asking about mine. When I ask them about their lives, they really don’t say much at all. It’s very awkward for me.

Currently, I’m about to have a job interview this week and my sister is giving advice to me and told me I need to work on my interpersonal skills. She said I tend to talk about myself more, and she said that it’s a bad thing, also she told me to ask more about others. She also recommended me to read Dale Carnegie’s book “how to make friends and influence others”.

I just told her “thanks for the advice” but honestly I felt weirded out because now that I think of it, could it be that the whole time that I met them, they were purposely avoiding sharing about their lives?
