My partner and I had to go long distance 2 months after coming into the relationship. When I finally met him after a year of LDR, it was a whole another feeling. So yeah it’s kinda like we had 2 honeymoon phases.
Mainly because he came home from a 6 month silent deployment when I would only talk to him at port, at any given time.
Too bad it all resulted in a fuckin’ lie.
Most of the research I’ve seen seems to indicate alot of the honeymkon period is caused by the information gathering stage of human interaction where quality interactions are highest. So to continue it you most just need to keep your daily quality interaction count up it seems like. So spend as much quality time together as possible.
Travel, usually. Making blanket forts. Doing silly challenges. Exercise.
With my spouse who traveled a lot, keeping in touch and having clear and open communication definitely helped. But we were always nervous to see each other when he returned, in a nice way. It felt like being teenagers again 🙂
