I was having a conversation with two other people. To add context, I don’t know either of these people well, they’re coworkers I don’t interact with much, but the two know each other very well.

The one coworker appeared to be engaged in the conversation and made eye contact with both me and the other coworker. The other coworker was also engaged in the conversation but would mostly make eye contact with the other coworker (like 85%), even when I posed questions and showed interest in her responses.

It was interesting to see someone make eye contact with someone else when you ask them a question.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

  1. Sounds like maybe they could have an issue making eye contact with people they don’t know very well and end up looking at something more comfortable. It happens, don’t take it personally I think

  2. It could mean they did not want to engage with you, or did not want you in that particular conversation, or that they do not like you in general.
