is Sonic (The fast food Chain) in any way related to Sonic the Hedgehog?

  1. The food franchise began using the name in 1959 in the US. Sonic The Hedgehog was developed in 1990 by Sega Japan. The word “Sonic” was already used when referring to speed and sound waves. Both companies used the word in relation to speed (The restaurant has “fast service” while the video game character can run supernaturally fast).

Neither restaurant nor character are related to one another.

  2. This question is so stupid.

But I can find a link between both.

Sonic has crossed over with Mario in the Mario and Sonic games as well as the Super Smash Bros. games.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam had a kids meal toy line at Sonic back in 2015.

  3. Not in the least. Sonic the Hedgehog is about *not* eating- he’s gotta go fast. 🙂

  4. No, although I think I recall them giving out some Sonic the Hedgehog toys with kid’s meals back in the 90s. Idk maybe I’m imagining things.

  5. They’re actually distant cousins.

(In all seriousness… no. Sonic the restaurant is from the 50s in Oklahoma. Sonic the Hedgehog is from 1991 in Japan. No relation whatsoever)

  6. No but when the Sonic movie started streaming my wife and I ordered Sonic to go and ate Sonic while watching Sonic and it was one of my favorite date nights with her.

I know this has nothing to do with your question but I can’t imagine a better opportunity to share that random piece of information I have.

  7. I was gonna say maybe it’s fast, but sonic doesn’t even mean that. By definition: denoting, relating to, or of the nature of sound or sound waves. So this means that either, sonic the hedgehog has some secret power, or…sonic the franchise is emitting sound waves that correlate with our brain to make us crave those delicious milkshakes and burgers…oh wait No ITS HAPPENING

  8. Also worth noting that Dairy Queen and Burger King are two unrelated fast food chains.
