What do you think is a better usage of time and money if you had to pick? I’m a dad with a little boy who is starting to enjoy Legos so I can feel the itch of nostalgia and collecting now that I see all the stuff out there that seems to be marketed directly at my wallet.

I’ve also been a gamer, and while that is harder to do with a young child, I do get the odd couple hours here or there to play something. I know how addicting games can be, and depending what you’re playing might be expensive, although probably would be way less in the long the run than Legos for similar time spent. On the other hand, we’re trying to keep our child away from screens and gaming in particular, so it’s not a hobby I can really share with my child yet. Currently I’m severely limiting what I spend on games, like I maybe buy a game every year, wait for sales etc. Sometimes I just want to buy the latest best seller (think Elden Ring) but I’ve been holding off for now.

I’m kind of thinking of indulging in Legos more but mostly of worried about the price tag and accumulating a lot of childish clutter that’s more for me and less for my kid if that makes sense. In the end I’ll probably buy and build some lego sets that will sit on my shelf if my child doesn’t destroy it by playing with it.

What would ultimately bring you more happiness and satisfaction?
