I had unprotected oral sex with my girlfriend for the first time (yes, we are both women). It was for less than a minute though. What are the chances of getting chlamydia from receiving oral? I was the receiver. Is this type of std common in Southeast Asian countries? I’m 32 years old. I’ve read that those who are 25 or below are more susceptible to catching it.

  1. Age doesn’t protect you from STIs, it’s just that younger people are more likely to be having unprotected sex (at least in some parts of the world- here in the UK the oldies are rampant). Maybe get tested for peace of mind?

Two lesbians? Honestly, you are more likely to catch hoof-and-mouth disease.

In Thailand and the Philippines, yes — because of the prevalence of sex work. The rest of SEA, no, not really.

Has your girlfriend engaged in prostitution in the last year or so? Has she had a Thai or Filipino *boy*friend? If so, there is an elevated chance she has a bacterial STD like chlamydia. Still unlikely though.

However, even if she does have it, the odds that she has given it to you by going down on you are zero. If you went down on her, the odds are very near zero.

Because they are more likely to have sex!

Incidence of STDs is almost entirely about *conduct*. There is nothing inherent in age, nationality, or sexual preference itself that makes an STD more or less likely — sometimes, it just makes you more likely to do something that does change your risk of infection.
