Korean BBQ seems to be popping up.

We had a few South African restaurants come in to Houston. One chain that tried to start didn’t last long but a new one popped up and it’s pretty good.

Malaysian has been opening up where I live. Also, more and more fusion restaurants are coming to be as well.
I really wish Peruvian food was more popular in the US.
It’s basically the other contender along with Mexico for the best cuisine in the Americas, but it’s very rare to find here.
Where I am from: Indian. There are tons of new places to get curry that did not exist half a decade ago.
In DC we have EVERYTHING! It’s awesome. Recently I’ve seen some newer stuff pop up like Georgian (the country) and Nordic
British. I haven’t been out here long, but I’ve been happy to see some sporadic things like proper bangers and pies in some local stores which I didn’t see when I first came.
Been a rise of Filipino food in Chicago the past few years
Lots of shwarma places popped up a couple of years ago
I’m starting to see a lot more Korean, Salvadoran, Jamaican/Caribbean, and Venezuelan outside major metros and enclave communities.
Indian food is big in most large cities I’m guessing but in my smaller city we have had two Indian places pop up. One is amazing and is basically considered the best restaurant in town. The other is okay. So not really new, but for a city with barely 100k its kind of nice.
My experience with different foods is more about a change in location.

But,at the same time, I’ve grown up in military communities. So authentic German, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Hawaiian, Panamanian food was super accessible.
It’s become diluted as the original owners pass on to later generations.
Now living in San Antonio, Tex Mex and BBQ are the go to. But, I can still find all my old favorites, plus Indian, Ethiopian, Greek in my neighborhood.
I’ve been eating Mexican food for 40 years in the heart of the Mexican food world and this stuff called chipotle just showed up in the last 10-15 years.
Korean seems to be more popular and Suya is starting to pop up more
None around here. There’s a couple Tex-Mex places not far from me and a Chinese restaurant about an hour out.
Mexican food is way more popular now than it used to be
I’ll clarify, *Mexican* Mexican food is way more popular than it was 10+ years ago. Tex Mex, which is sometimes referred to as “Mexican”, has been popular for ages.
