Which response would make the situation less awkward? And if they are lies, which one would be a smaller lie? Would the second answer be offensive if it weren’t true?

  1. The gay one is hard to get away from. You may get a reputation as gay and limit the likelihood of the opposite sex making a move.

Go with partner. It is suitably vague and let’s you backpeddle if needed

  2. Sincerely just say. “I’m not interested” quick and straight to the point the other person is going to be hurt but theirs no in between and stringing something on both of you are going to regret

  3. I’m gay sadly doesn’t work either and don’t do that if you are straight. I said ‘I’m into women’ and I’ve had mixed results. Even when I said ‘I have a gf’ as the truth they still didn’t back off (men are crazy sometimes). I would say vaguely ‘I have a partner’ or ‘I have a bf/gf’ depending on your gender
