Im moving in with some new roommates and just started getting to know them and so far things have been going well. Im taking over a room from someone whos leaving the house and don’t really know anyone there but the person I’ve been talking to made a joke that since I’m taking their besties room I’m their new bestie by default.
I shared that with a new-ish friend but someone i get along really well with and am quite close to and added that i think my new roommates like me.
Yesterday i was talking to them as well as one of their friends and their friend brought it up with a crude joke about the new roommates even though the only person I’ve told is our mutual friend.
It just makes me wonder about what else they share with this friend, its not really something super serious but just makes me uneasy that they would share something like that, not that it’s private information i just don’t see why something so benign would be shared and it makes me wonder…

I think it’s good that you got the heads up on this with something less important in the grand scheme.
I think this friend who shared the DM is unreliable, low on the integrity meter, and probably talks behind your back.
I wouldn’t necessarily confront them about that, but I WOULD file the information away as being important ABOUT THEM. And I’d consider de-emphasizing the friendship a bit, and being a LOT more careful about what you share with them, in person, via text or any way at all. Just assume anything you share is for public consumption if you share it with that person.
