Hello everyone! I am 22 years old man and have been only in one relationship. It happened when both my now ex and me were young (started dating when we both were 15yo) and lasted for 4 years. We broke up 3 years ago.

Since then, I had some mental problems (depression) and was feeling too bad to even try anything (not because of breakup, but in general). I stopped working on myself, got deeper and deeper, then COVID started, I was at home the whole days living miserable life.

Since I realized that my happiness and success in life depends on nothing but myself and the effort I put in, I decided to make a change and started trying to build myself back and beyond. Started getting in shape/working out, dieting, socializing with new friends, visited therapist, studying again and now I am trying to find my first job and fix some other issues I still have.

However, I do believe and feel that my life will never been complete without romantic and intimate relationship. I just want to build something meaningful with someone. I am still virgin (had only oral sex), but I do want relationship more than just random hookups (might have them aswell if I vibe with a person).

Now I am not saying I did not make any progress with women – I started approaching some of them, mostly in college and sometimes in night clubs, but with little success for now. Given the fact that college is now empty due to summer break this is not an option. My friends rarely want to go out, and I am still not sure if I am comfortable going alone, thought might be worth giving a try. Also, I was not super impressed with kind of women I meet at the clubs so far, as those were mostly (but not exclusively) not my type. I feel like most of them were not interested in dating. Maybe clubs are not good option, and maybe I should just change the type of clubs I spend time in.

Anyways, I would like to hear suggestions for the places where I could meet, approach and possibly more with women. I know that dating is trial and error, but I do believe that if I make many contacts, some of them will be worth it. But the number has to increase.

So far I spend time in the gym, college library and home. Sometimes I go to the bars and clubs.

Thank you very much!

  1. Depends on where you are.

If you are in places like the Bahamas, Florida, and other sea side places. I’d say bars, beach bars and grills, clubs that focus on dancing but with good lighting and quiet areas for conversation.

I also like meeting people at things like marathon races, mud runs, friends of the environment event and fundraisers. You can make good friends there and maybe find a connection as well.

And worse comes to worse church.
