we just concluded welcome week at my university & i met some people here & there. i just want to know how to follow up with these people to build stronger relationships and possibly even a day to day friendship. i know i can invite them to cafeteria but i want to do more than just that. any suggestions on how i can follow up?

Throw a party and invite them. Or if you want to go smaller, just straight up ask them if they want to hang out and choose an activity.
Just doing simple things like this, is how me and some of my work friends went from work friends to regular friends.
