The firm I sub contract for have told all their employees they are getting a £1 per hour pay rise to help out in these tough times (no word on us subbies yet) My friend works at another firm (both are in the construction industry) and he’s just had a £0.60 per hour rise and getting a £500 one off bonus to help with the cost of living. It’s great to hear.
I just want to see how many bosses are stepping up in your time of need?
(I will add no one needs to tell me these are tough times for businesses too)

  1. I work for a media company. They gave the entire staff (anyone who had passed probation) a two grand pay rise, and raised the lowest starting salary to 25k (not sure what the lowest paid were on before).

  2. No they are not. Amazon UK are giving us 50p an hour whilst they are paying the CEO $213M over the next 10 years.

  3. No, quite the opposite in fact. They have just announced mandatory 5 day office attendance (previously 100% optional) for all employees without a home working contract. Which is almost everyone.

  4. One off payment of £500 and 8% pay rise which at the time seemed generous, but now looks like it’ll be below inflation 🙁

  5. I work for a gas company seeing record profits at the moment. We got a below inflation raise and a one-off £500 bonus. The majority of people I talk to see this as a double win, because they’re too dense to realise that it’s a paycut.

  6. Flexible working has been helpful and we have a ‘mental health team’ that you can talk to if you’re stressed but materially, not much

  7. We were supposed to get a 1-3% pay rise in April but nothing happened. I think the union is fighting for a bigger increase while no one knows where to get the money even for the previously planned raise. I don’t think we’ll get anything at all.

  8. One off payment of £1000 back in April, payrises announced in September but not exactly expecting much. It’ll be more beneficial to move now than keep fighting for a payrise

  9. Got a less than inflation pay rise in a year where the average partners’ profit share was over £600k.

  10. I got a pay rise in April but that’s now not relevant with the further increases.
I’m hoping a one-off payment will be announced but I highly doubt it.

  11. Yup. lowest wage in our staff is 13.95p/hr. Those who work from home get £30p/m towards physical internet connection. Granting extra leave and cover for parents and families who need extra help and even paid for bus passes for a number of staff to be able to get to and from work.

New person who started last week was in a diabolical situation of no money or food, so work offered them loyalty rewards so they can get some shopping in.

As long as you do your job here, you’re well looked after. Even management gave up bonuses to ensure we all got fair pay.

Have never had an employer like this in my life and hope to keep working for them till I’m old, grey and falling apart.

  12. Army wage has not increased at all. Apparently we are getting a 1 time payment too help but yet too see it.

  13. We got a one off £600 payment last month and are due pay rises next month. I’m guessing they have just taken the £600 from the pay rise and that together it will be about a 10% but I guess I’ll have to wait and see.

  14. The company that I joined in June gave every single employee a flat bonus of £500 in April to help with the cost of living crisis. In October, they’re giving another £1000

  15. Considering that my employer utilities a two-tier pay structure, with tier two employees paid 20% or so less than the tier one folks, no.

  16. We had a £1k payment and then I had a 10% payrise. Rumour mill is there may be another payment come Christmas

  17. NMW at our place, overtime at standard rate as a last resort. Owner just bought himself an £80m yacht, which costs £8m a year to run. Also has his own helicopter and jet.

  18. There’s rumours of a big payrise coming in September am my work. We might be getting 3% payrise.

  19. Nope. Mine has just told me he expects me to drive 7 hours home in my own time after 5 meetings and still be in work at 8 am the next day

  20. Work for an energy company, they have avoided any talks of a rise, or even a one off payment.

They did offer overtime Saturday though and the pay was, erm, the pay didn’t exist. They started offering overtime and the pay would be a prize draw for four hours work, or a pizza, or they would order you a takeaway to your house if you were working from home. People started kicking off so they said we can also take the time back if we want, so work four hours Saturday to take time back Monday will beats the point of overtime because now you’re behind again.

Last time I checked, pizza and prize draws don’t pay my mortgage.

  21. No, was told today I should be working an extra day for my salary, currently spending that extra day doing cash in hand work 😂

  22. No but we’ve been told we can access our money saving advice service from our colleagues that we usually offer to customers. Because people really want to confide their financial troubles to people they work with..

We do get yearly pay reviews and a company performance bonus though.
