So everything was all right before my period came 2 days early and my period didn’t smell bad at all (I had one which smelled awful but I had uti), one thing I noticed was that it left, now, towards the end where some brown stuff comes out, a very strong sour smell which I prayed to God to get rid of some months before. I recently lost some weight and smoked from time to time, but the smell isn’t always there, when I get wet or I finish, the smell and taste fade away and get normal. I’m really scared as I don’t want to go back to where I’ve been.
Can this be a factor of my period starting and ending or again, something is wrong with me? My intuition tells me that it will be over once my period ends and normal discharge comes out, but I still have some doubts..

  1. It’s most likely due to hormonal fluctuations, but if you’re so concerned you should see a doctor.

  2. Not necessarily just period related but just being a woman with hormones. Just like the texture of our wetness or discharge, smells will fluctuate as well.

  3. I usually do a boric acid suppository when I notice somethings off after my period. Usually one will get me back to normal

  4. Yes, your uterine wall literally dies during your period. If you are really concerned, save some money and get your bacteria ratios checked.

  5. Period color changes throughout ones period. Bright red at the beginning, rust to brown clots towards the end as your shedding the older parts of the lining. That’s normal.

Are you using pads? Pads can make menstral blood smell. Sweat (especially if you live in a hot area) can make things not very fresh either.

If you’re not having any itching or pain, I wouldn’t worry about it. Just be mindful of good hygiene practices. But if the odor continues beyond your period, or becomes a strong fishy odor or an odd color discharge, you should get it checked out to make sure you don’t have a bacterial infection.
