Is there anything that we can learn from the devastating reactions of people who received life prison sentences or the death penalty?

There are videos on youtube of people breaking down and being devastated after receiving life prison sentences and death sentences. People literally being destroyed, crying and breaking down in tears. I am wondering what are some things we can learn from these people and use in our own life? Like is there anything to be learned from these situations that we can use for our life as well?
