What do you regret doing or not doing while he was alive?

  1. I can tell you what I *don’t* regret.

My father and I had a conflicted relationship.

    It never got fixed.

I and he tried several times. It didn’t work.

I tried again when it became clear he was dying.

I still felt a lot of strong negative emotions when he passed, but being able to tell myself that I *tried* my best to fix things before he went took a noticeable edge off of the pain.

  2. He’s still alive, but we went on one trip together every year until he got too old for it. We talk/text/email regularly. I visit him every couple of months at a minimum and bring a 6 pack of some weird craft beer for us to try. I don’t expect to have any regrets, but I’ll surely wish we had more time.
