Hello all,

Lately I’ve been going through a lot of, lets say, warm and urgent feelings. So I thought it would be time to purchase my very first dildo.

I’ve been looking on the internet and found a cool one. It’s for beginners and made from silicone (apparently PVC dildos are bad for your health).

Now I wanted to buy some lubrication with it. I found some cheap lubricant on water basis. And since I’m still in college, cheap means good.

The lubricants description says: “fit for use with latex condoms”.

So, does this mean I should always put a condom on the dildo before applying the lubricant? Or can I use the dildo with lubricant as well without a condom? I would personally prefer the latter option.

All advice will be appreciated😅

  1. You dont need a condom on the dildo. It just means you can use the lube on a condom–some lubes aren’t good for condoms

  2. No you don’t need to put a condom on your toy lol. You can use the lube right on the toy. Water based is fine for silicone.

  3. You can use it without a condom. Also make sure that you use water based lube because most toys are made from rubber either way.

  4. You can use it both with, or without a condom 😊 That message on the lube is put there so people know you can use it on condoms during intercourse with another person.
Most people use toys without condoms, they just have to make sure the toy is cleaned well in the proper recommended way before using each time.
It’s up to you whether you use a condom or not, maybe try it both ways, to see which way you prefer using it? 😊

  5. Just as a heads up some cheaper toys can be made from materials that aren’t entirely body safe, and putting a condom on the toy can prevent contamination in this situation. If the toy describes itself as “body safe” or surgical silicone then you should be OK without a condom on the toy. Play safe and enjoy 😉

  6. Make sure you buy toy wash. Also, make sure your lube even though cheap, is safe for your body. A yeast infection is not worth cheap lube.

  7. You do not need to use a condom with your dildo.

The lube is simply saying that because most condoms are latex. And, there are lubes (primarily oil based) that will dissolve latex. And, that would be really bad to have a condom start dissolving when you are using it.

Water based lube is compatible with 99% of sex toy materials that are out there.

    Basic and important lube rules:

Do NOT use silicone lubes with silicone toys.

Do NOT use oil based lubes with latex condoms.

Water based lube is good to use in 99% of most sex scenarios.

When in doubt, READ the lube container. It should say what it is and is not compatible with.

Here is an in-depth guide. Very much worth the read (even if you just skip to the pros/cons sections). But, still worth a full read when you have the time.
