Ballermann music is a German music genre consisting of a mixture of “Schlager” and “Eurodance”.
It’s name refers to the Ballermann area in Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca (“Malle” in short). This island is the number one destination for Germans wanting to party on vacation. With famous clubs / pubs like the “Mega-Park” and the “Bierkönig” (Beer King) Germans come here with frinds or sports clubs to party and drink excessively.
The party scene on Mallorca is namesake for this genre of music played at the Ballermann and on a lot of German partys. It’s importand that these songs are sung in German, with very simple lyrics and a catchy hook thats easy to sing along while being drunk. Themes of this music include alcohol, sex and local conditions like a sunny beach.

That sounds exactly like what we would call *Russelåter* – songs for the [russ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russefeiring). Shitty partymusic for not-quite-adults.

In Norway we have rølpemusikk, and russelåter.
Rølpemusikk is probably very close to “Ballerman”,
Russelåter is probably the more interesting of the two, when Norwegians finish the school that we have to do (Matura in german) we usually hang around for a month in colour coded clothes depending on the chosen study (Red for university preparing school, White for cook, Blue for Mechanics and Electricians and so on) Then most people make a car or bus, and run around partying drinking and so on. And often also they special make a partysong that represent their car/buss, and that’s mostly eurobeat/dubstep with very crude and funny party lyrics.
