When do “Fall” vibes start for you? September 1st? September 22nd? When the leaves begin to change? When the temperature drops? When football season starts? When Starbucks brings back pumpkin spice? I’m curious where we’re all at on this.

  1. Growing up in SD, this was the first day of Autumn, but November was fully a Winter month.

    Today in Chicago it’s definitely still Summer right now. I’ll check again October first. November is definitely Autumn here, at least.

  2. I don’t decorate but autumn is that first day you walk outside and breathe in a noticeably crisp air

    (Which was borderline this morning by the way.. not quite crispy yet but getting there)

  3. October 1st for Halloween, November 1st for Fall/Thanksgiving, December 1st for Christmas, January 2, take down decorations. Summer flag and flowers, that’s it.

  4. Summer decor stays out until after Labor Day. If people want to put out their fall stuff after that, I’ll allow it.

  5. Well, my wife already got a Pumpkin Spice whatever the fuck, so if it’s not today, it’s soon.

  6. What a great question.

    Early September can be considered fall for several reasons.

    * School is back in session, starting with Fall semester.
    * First day of autumn is in September, so kind of just round the seasons into months – starting with Sept 1
    * Early September is Labor Day, which unofficially ends summer and kicks off fall.
    * Football starts

    But for me (Illinois), it is still summer. It’s still hot. I’m still paddleboarding in my local lake. Not even close to needing a sweatshirt. A/C on all the time.

    Fall begins in early October with cooler weather, and changing leaves.

    * Jan – Mar = winter
    * Apr – Jun = spring
    * July – Sep = summer
    * Oct – Dec = fall

  7. What’s Fall? I’ll be here a while waiting for the temperature to drop. Although leaves might drop off, it’s not really the same. Fall has always confused me as a Central Floridian. We just skip it all together. Both that and winter really.

  8. No. Probably not until the beginning of October. It’s still going to be hot here for a couple more weeks and the fall decor just feels weird until it cools off.

  9. Whenever i get a day off in september with nothing to do.

    Today is that day, so I’m gonna get to it

  10. Yes, and Halloween decor. I bought my pumpkin spice creamers yesterday to be ready for today.

    Mind you I live in FL, there is no fall, fall is the temp I now set my AC to.

  11. My wife began decorating our house last week for fall. We did it earlier than normal this year

  12. Hoa won’t allow decorating until Oct 1st. Inside the house? A few items will make an appearance

  13. I put the Halloween decorations up in my house. I really don’t care if people think it’s too early, I just really like Halloween.

  14. My wife was wanting to put out Halloween decorations today. My response “can we at least get through Labor Day ?”

  15. My mom (currently still live w/parents) puts her fall stuff out on August 1. She hates summer that much.

  16. Usually has to start feeling like Fall. You’ll have a wide range of dates based on the latitude and elevation.

    The air becomes cool in the far north in September. Montana can see snow.

    At the same time it can be in the 90s in the far south.

  17. I don’t think there’s any one “fall” vibe. After Labor Day is a harvest vibe around here. We have all the fairs starting up, apples are getting ripe, cornstalks and sunflowers.

  18. I’m in Cincinnati where we’re still going to have days in the 90s through most of this month. I’m not putting out fall stuff, but I’m not begrudging anyone who does. Fall rules.

  19. I just got my first Dunkin Donuts pumpkin coffee of the season this morning, so sure, it’s fall.

  20. Why does it have to be an argument? Do what makes you happy. Fuck the rest. Life is short.
