All recommendations much appreciated in advance. And yes I looked at Google but looking for people’s comments who have experience in them.

  1. Manchester. It’s not exactly good but Manchester itself is good. You could look at the stuff for free to prevent being ripped off and then buy things for much cheaper elsewhere.

  2. Bath Christmas Market is usually pretty nice.

We tried Birmingham a few years ago and it was just too big and too crowded for us.

  3. Winchester Christmas Market is nice. You get a lot of unique crafted items there, plus the old England feel of Winchester cathedral makes it that bit more special

  4. It’s not as well known but the Ely Cathedral Christmas market blew my mind last year, absolutely gorgeous stalls with so many artisan sellers, handmade stuff, all very unique. Did pretty much all my Christmas shopping there last year.

  5. I’ve been to a few of the big ones and they were all horrible exercises in separating you from your cash in the most cynical way possible.

Full of huge amounts of nasty beer and shitty mass-produced tat at inflated prices.

Honestly, the city ones are all awful.

Small and local town Christmas markets with local creators and traders are great – we went to Lincoln which was too big and completely over-priced, then we went to one in somewhere like Market Rasen and it was lovely.

  6. “I will post if we get the Christmas Market at the Bude Tunnel off the ground. We will certainly have Bude Tunnel snow globes.

We have applied for permission to have 400 stalls. Given it is a tunnel, weather will not be a problem like most places in the UK. ”

  7. “Good Christmas markets in the UK” there’s a classic oxymoron if ever there was.

  8. It’s not necessarily the best in the UK but out of the ones I’ve been too, Winchester is the biggest and best.
