Since I’m too broke to afford a gym I decided to try the outdoor gym equipement in the forest near my place. I walked there and when I went to approach there was someone already working out. I was so scared to go i don’t even know why. I tried to calm myself but there was a lot of ppl running and just enjoying their morning so that made me stress more. I ended up walking as fast as I can to get out of the forest. Now I feel so bad.

  1. Look up “convict conditioning.” There are lots of exercises you can do at home without needing equipment. When you build that solid baseline fitness, equipment will be more beneficial and you’ll be more confident.

  2. Try running, in areas with no people at first if you like. The more exercise you get, the more calm and confident you become, over time, with some consistency. Happy chemicals!

  3. Never heard of a gym like that. But I do understand loathing the idea of working out in front of others. It’s the main reason I’m deterred from bettering myself. What I can suggest is a healthy routine of at home bodyweight exercises/stretches for no cost whatsoever or perhaps some light equipment like a dumbell rack, pull up bar, or maybe a bench. These are options to do your thing out of the public eye. Someone else mentioned running, which didn’t really suit me, but I urge you to try it if there’s a trail or park near you for some added privacy. This may be too forward but are you trying to lose or gain weight? I have a few tips for the ladder but can’t help you otherwise. Always been a twig, myself.

  4. In addition to what other have said perhaps you could think about why working out around other people scares you. Chances are the actual experience will not be nearly as bad as you fear. 99% of people aren’t paying much attention to people around them at the gym, and the ones who are are idiots.
